Day 2

STRASBOURG - BINGEN AM RHINE - RÜDESHEIM

We’ll cruise the currents of the romantic Rhine Valley, passing by the cities of Worms and Mainz before arriving near Sankt Goar and the legendary rock of the Lorelei. A subject of many literary works and poems, the rock is most famously associated with the myth of a beautiful maiden who threw herself from its heights in despair, only to be transformed into a siren who lures fishermen to their deaths. ON BOARD CONTEST Participants will answer questions and the winner will be entered in the random drawing at the end of the cruise. Once we arrive in Bingen, we’ll set out for Reichenstein Castle and enjoy lunch with a medieval flair.(2) The oldest parts of the building suggest that the castle was built in the early 11th century, and it is a showcase of the German Romanticism in the valley. After our excursion, we will return on board the ship. The famous Drosselgasse with its numerous cafés, bars, and music awaits you tonight!

Day 3

RÜDESHEIM - MANNHEIM or SPEYER

We’ll cruise up the Rhine to either Speyer or Mannheim. ONBOARD CONTEST Participants will answer questions and the winner will be entered in the random drawing at the end of the cruise. Afterward, join us for an optional excursion to visit Heidelberg. The hills here display beautiful wooded forests topped off with the impressive red sandstone ruins of the infamous castle. On a “history and delicacy” tour, your guide will bring the city to life through celebrities and figures from its past. Each one of them has a story to tell and will help you discover the delicacies and sites found in the region: the night watchman at the castle, a visit to the cathedral, a stroll through the university grounds, the local witch who’ll give up her recipe for her precious potions, the picturesque Hotel Ritter, and a student who will recount the history of the famous “Studentenkuss” before you’ll be able to indulge in the chocolate delight yourself. We’ll return on board in Speyer or Mannheim. Tonight is our festive gala evening. Our ship will begin to cruise to Strasbourg.
