We’ll leave on foot for a guided tour of Sens to get a feel for its remarkable history as told through its medieval and Renaissance-style architecture. Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket, the “meddlesome priest” who was a thorn in English King Henry’s side in the 12th century, spent his exile here. Each step through the city feels like a walk through the yesteryears. The cathedral itself is outstanding for many reasons, the biggest being its stained glass windows that recount Becket’s life. The museum next to the cathedral holds an important collection of relics, ornaments, and religious art. The exquisite market hall is right across the street from the cathedral. We’ll enjoy a tasting of local products at the end of our tour. After our tour, we’ll return on board the ship.
